Roopal joined KPMG International’s member firm in India in 2003 and has over 13 years of experience advising clients on Indian indirect tax issues across industries including IT, e-commerce, logistics, media, and hospitality.
While in India, Roopal advised various multinational conglomerates across sectors on the potential incentives likely to be derived under indirect taxes by reviewing structures and various planning opportunities. She has also represented clients before tax authorities at various forums and has been actively involved in discussions with and before Tax authorities.
During the ongoing transition phase in the indirect tax regime in India, Roopal had the opportunity to interact with Government officials who are involved in framing current GST policy and regulations.
Roopal is now based out of Los Angeles, CA as part of the India Center of Excellence for Tax with KPMG LLP. She assists US clients with operations in India on Indian indirect tax matters, including those related to the transition to the proposed GST regime in India.
Roopal is a regular speaker on goods and services tax and other indirect tax issues in various forums.
