Louis is an audit Partner in KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice. Louis has over 16 years of experience in auditing, accounting, and financial reporting. His experience spans public accounting practice, standard setting, and regulation with a focus on the reporting requirements of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), auditing standards of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and internal control over financial reporting (ICFR).

Over the course of his career, Louis has worked in a variety of industries including healthcare, technology, and manufacturing. His experience includes working with publicly traded and privately held companies, which includes numerous private equity-backed companies.

Professional and industry experience

As a Partner in KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice, Louis is focused on refining and enhancing the Firm’s audit methodology and providing perspectives and expertise on ICFR matters. Louis also assists audit teams with complex financial reporting issues.

Prior to his current role, Louis served as a professional accounting fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the SEC in Washington, DC, between 2018 and 2020. Louis primarily focused on matters involving independent audits, including oversight of the PCAOB on audit policy related matters and the assessments of ICFR. He also followed the activities of international auditing standard setters, consulted with registrants on ICFR matters and related reporting, supported other divisions and offices of the SEC in their interactions with registrants and auditors, and participated in the SEC’s various rulemaking initiatives.

Prior to his fellowship, Louis worked in the Seattle office where he planned, conducted, and supervised the audits of financial statements and ICFR of public and private companies, including the integrated audit of a Fortune 500 company. During his time in the audit practice, Louis worked on significant acquisitions and disposals, debt financings, impairment analyses, income tax matters, legal contingencies and other complex transactions and accounting analyses.
