Sean Egan

I am a partner in KPMG’s New York Financial Service practice. I provide audit and advisory services to the insurance sector. Sean also serves as a SEC reviewing partner. In addition to my client service roles, I am the National Insurance Sector Knowledge Leader. In this national role, I oversee the development of insurance professionals both onshore and offshore, deployment of insurance specific technologies and represent our teams in the field in technical matters with our National Office.

In serving the insurance sector, I have experience with life, health, property & casualty companies, brokers and Insuretechs; public, private stock, mutual and captives. I serve as lead partner for several audit and advisory accounts overseeing the quality of service delivery.

I have extensive insurance technical and operational accounting experience including revenue recognition, business combinations, fair value, run-off, reinsurance and on implementation of new U.S. GAAP, IFRS and statutory accounting pronouncements.

I have extensive experience in auditing under PCAOB standards and US GAAS in serving audit clients, participating in KPMG’s quality review programs and assisting advisory clients implement, execute or remediate internal controls over financial reporting.

In addition to my client service experience, I served as President of the Society of Insurance Financial Management from 2020-2022, I am involved with the development and delivery of firm training and I maintain involvement with the local community through Junior Achievement of New York. Catholic Charities of New York, and coaching youth sports.
