Background
Brett is a Director in KPMG’s Financial Risk Management Advisory practice with twenty-three years of credit risk management, and commercial banking experience. He joined KPMG in 2010 after working as an independent consultant for the Commercial Credit Risk Practice. Since 2009, Brett has worked with more than 100 financial institutions all over the world.
Professional and Industry Experience
At KPMG, Brett provides services to audit and non-audit clients in the Financial Services industries. Brett has staffed and managed credit risk engagements, inclusive of consulting, loaned staff, due dilligence, and regulator directed work, at commercial banks, insurance entities, investment trusts, and other credit-granting enterprises. In this role, he has reviewed thousands of credit facilities, reviewed and analyzed policies and procedures, interviewed key stakeholders, and worked alongside Bank management to help them achieve their strategic objectives, providing him with expert insight into credit quality, operational issues and trends impacting the financial industry today.
Representative engagements include:
Manged and led numerous (40+) due diligence engagements during the last 10 years, including whole bank transactions, mergers of equals, portfolio acquisitions, and specialty finance companies all across the country. Experiences at liaising between clients, investment bankers, and engagement teams to ensure effective service and delivery.
Credit file and credit policy reviews throughout the country.
Helped serve as a lead advisor to a global bank to develop and optimize their strategy for settling with the US Attorney General and the state attorney generals’ offices in response to the global mortgage RMBS settlement.
Managed the Asset Quality Review for the US Portfolio of one of the largest banks in the world, under the European Central Bank’s stress testing of the 128 largest lender’s in Europe.
