Darrin is the Partner-in-Charge of Tax for KPMG’s Chesapeake business unit, covering multiple offices and over 300 professionals. Darrin is also a Partner in the Business Tax Services practice, and possesses deep and broad-based technical knowledge in such areas as revenue recognition, timing of deductions, fixed-asset cost recovery, and accounting method change procedures. In addition, he has extensive experience serving clients in the hospitality, technology, media and communications, and retail industries, among others.

Professional and Industry Experience

Darrin is resident in the Tyson’s Corner office and serves as Lead Tax Partner to a number of corporate clients. Darrin has led large implementation teams in tax transformation engagements, remediated deficiencies related to tax accounting and controls including the creation of tax basis balance sheets, helped ensure that new accounting methods were accurately reflected on federal income tax returns, and advised and assisted clients with the filing of Applications for Change in Accounting Method and other accounting method issues.

Darrin works directly with clients and KPMG’s local client service teams to deliver quality work products, including assistance with significant fixed asset and capitalization studies, UNICAP computations, domestic production activities, and procedural issues related to filing Applications for Change in Accounting Method (Form 3115).

During his tenure in the Washington National Tax office, Darrin participated with the AICPA’s Tax Accounting Resource Panel. In this capacity, Darrin helped address issues and legislative developments proactively with the IRS National Office and the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy.
