John Johansen is a managing director in KPMG’s Deal Advisory Group and is based in New York. He is a highly skilled professional with more than 25 years of experience advising insurance executives and organizations on the effective use of technology and data to drive tangible business results.
Professional and industry experience
- John has advised global executive teams in all areas of business technology. He works in all phases of strategy setting, short and long-range planning, budgeting and executing change programs.
- His experience includes executing integration efforts for global insurance and reinsurance carriers, TPAs, MGAs, MGUs and captives. He has performed strategy engagements outlining the technology plans that best support his clients’ growth plans, established processing architectures to integrate new capabilities, and re-architected data processing flows to support improved analytics and data transparency. He has worked to plan the modernization of global carriers’ analytics platforms, outlined the application roadmap for a global brokerage, and put in place data and machine learning models at program MGAs. He is a frequent writer and speaker on the topics of modern insurance processing architectures, cloud-based solutions, machine learning and AI.
- Prior to KPMG, John was a partner and the COO of a technology consulting firm he founded that provided technology strategy and execution services to the insurance industry. Upon a successful sale of that company he joined the purchasing company, a global insurance software and services company, and was a leader in growing their services team.
