John Karasek
Managing Director, International Tax & Value Management
John Karasek is a Managing Director in KPMG’s Tax practice concentrating on international tax and value chain management. Based in Boston, John provides advice to companies regarding the international tax and operational considerations of business expansion, restructuring, and M&A transactions. John’s clients include life sciences, technology, and industrial manufacturing companies.
John has been involved in the design and implementation of all phases of the supply chain, from global holding companies to European principal company structures; IP migration; the structure and operation of procurement and sourcing companies; and US anti-deferral and foreign tax credit planning.
John is actively involved in the Tax Section of the American Bar Association. He presented the international tax update for the 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2016 ABA Tax Section meetings and is a contributing author of the ABA Tax Section's comment letter on cloud computing and passive foreign investment companies. John presented the ABA Tax Section comments on cloud computing at the 2016 Mid-Year Meeting.
Prior to joining KPMG’s practice in Boston, John was a manager in the Washington National Tax Office of another Big 4 accounting firm and an associate at the law firm Withers Bergman LLP. John is admitted to practice law in the States of New York (2004) and Connecticut (2005).
John holds his Master’s degree in Tax Law from the University of Denver, his Juris Doctorate from Washington University’s School of Law, and his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Cornell University.
