Ichiro Kawasaki is a corporate and digital communications professional with nearly 20 years of strategic planning and counseling, external and internal communications, and branding experience. He is passionate about helping organizations achieve their business objectives through the development and implementation of strategic communications campaigns and programs.
Currently, he leads a team of high-performing professionals focused on bringing KPMG's strategic narrative to life through earned, owned, digital/social, and paid media. This team also spearheads strategic media relations and external visibility efforts for various KPMG leaders including the Chairman and CEO.
Previously, he led strategic, external and internal communications initiatives working in concert with the Chief Communications Officer. He also was the lead communications professional charged with enhancing marketplace visibility for the Financial Services / Banking, Emerging Markets, and Commercial Real Estate practices.
Prior to joining KPMG, he was head of the media relations team for Alcatel-Lucent’s Wireless Business Group -- a wireless network infrastructure provider. His primary responsibilities included developing, managing and implementing the group’s global media relations strategy and programs. He also served as media spokesman.
He also worked for Brodeur Worldwide, a global strategic communications agency, where he was an account executive on various IBM accounts.
Ichiro graduated from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a M.S. degree in public relations. He also holds a B.A. degree in Communications with a minor in marketing from The College of New Jersey.
