A resident in KPMG’s San Diego office, Richard is a Principal in KPMG’s Research & Development Practice and the leader of KPMG’s Credits practice in Pacific Northwest and Pacific Southwest. Richard also leads the firm’s Power & Utilities Tax Credit Group.
Over the past 15 years, Richard has been involved in a number of accounting methods and tax credits/incentive projects for mid-size to large corporate clients. He has been involved in all stages of these projects, from implementation to IRS audit defense.
Richard’s project experience includes the supervision of pertinent fieldwork (i.e. compiling costing and contemporaneous documentation, conducting costing interviews, designing deliverables to address IRS concerns, etc.) as well as researching and advising clients of their options and most sustainable positions. He is involved directly with our Washington National Tax professionals in researching and determining firm positions on new/unclear areas of law. Richard is an active speaker at such events as TEI, ACT, COST, MAPI, client training sessions and teaches classes at USD Law School as well as KPMG trainings for staff, managers and client. He reviews and writes articles regularly as part of KPMG’s thought leadership initiative.
Richard is active in the local West Coast area and regularly promotes KPMG. He is also actively involved in local community outreach.
