Steve Massed is a member of the International Tax and M&A Tax groups of the KPMG Washington National Tax practice. Specializing in cross-border M&A transactions, Steve has advised KPMG clients on a wide array of international corporate tax matters, including cross-border joint ventures, reorganizations, and spin-offs, inversions, U.S. income tax treaty application, subpart F, GILTI, foreign tax credit planning, and debt-to-equity analysis.

Steve regularly speaks on cross-border M&A tax subjects at forums such as meetings held by the International Fiscal Association and the Tax Executives Institute as well as KPMG-sponsored client events. He has written several articles on cross-border M&A tax matters, including an outline on section 367 that is published annually in the PLI Corporate Tax Practice Series, and is a key contributor to the PLI outline Corporate Distributions Under Section 355, and the WG&L treatise U.S. Taxation of International Mergers, Acquisitions, and Joint Ventures.

Steve is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the International Fiscal Association. He earned a BS degree from the University of New Haven. He also holds both an MBA degree and a JD degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where he served on the Pittsburgh Tax Review. In addition, he holds an LLM degree in taxation, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center.
