As Global Chief Operating Office for Tax and Legal Services, Steve works with a dynamic group of accountants, lawyers, engineers, data scientists, entrepreneurs, and business professionals from around the globe.  Over 42,000 KPMG Tax and Legal professionals serve our capital markets, clients, people, and stakeholders with a view towards the future by responding to everchanging business demands and creating value.

Steve has provided business-based tax consulting services to various global clients and industries, including hospitality, power and energy (including renewable energy), telecom, professional services, private equity, and real estate.   He has extensive experience helping companies manage their tax burden, from global tax planning based on an enterprise’s value chain to the design/implementation of process and technology enablers to help manage the tax function.

Previously, Steve was Chief Innovation Officer, Tax, KPMG in the US, focusing on emerging and enhanced services and business models, imbedding artificial intelligence and blockchain enabled solutions into tax offerings, and operationalizing Lean Start-up methodologies.

He also served as the Business Unit Partner-in-Charge, Tax for Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland, and was a partner in KPMG’s Washington National Tax Practice focusing on mergers and acquisitions for ten years.
