Miguel has over 25 years of experience with KPMG and is dedicated to providing due diligence and deal advisory services to strategy and financial buyers in the financial services industry.
Professional and Industry Experience
Miguel joined Deal Advisory in 1998, after eight years in the audit practice, and was admitted to the partnership in 2003. Miguel has participated in over 300 transactions in the banking, brokerage, investment management, financial technology and insurance segments, and serves as lead transaction services partner for several prominent global financial institutions and private equity firms.
As the founding partner of the financial services industry team, Miguel has broad financial sector experience and has led numerous marquee transactions in the space, including significant sell side assignment and cross border transactions. The range of engagements led by Miguel on behalf of his clients include:
- Multi-disciplinary due diligence assistance for corporate and financial investors to evaluate potential risks & opportunities in connection with potential mergers & acquisitions, including financial, commercial, tax, operational, actuarial, credit regulatory & compliance and information technology due diligence;
- Transaction advisory services in connection with outbound cross border transactions spanning over 35 developed and emerging countries with consideration of the different accounting, tax, legal and regulatory environments applicable to each jurisdiction;
- Assistance in analysis and planning of potential divestitures, including development and review of standalone carve-out financial statements, analysis of potential corporate impact and disynergies, and development of separation plan and transition services framework;
- Advisory assistance with domestic and international market entry plans, including overall market and competitor analysis,alternative market positions strategies, analysis of build vs. buy approaches and short listing of potential merger and joint venture partners.
