Anjani Sharma is an International Tax Partner with KPMG in India and is on deputation to KPMG US where he heads the India Tax Center. Anjani is a senior seasoned tax professional with over two decades of varied experience dealing with taxation aspects specifically in the asset management industry spanning across various jurisdictions. He specializes in corporate income tax and cross-border/international taxation, which includes developing entry and exit strategies for multinationals investing into/outside India and handling India tax compliance for global clients, which includes overseas investing and Indian incorporated vehicles. He has been part of marquee projects involving setting up payment and small finance banks, asset reconstruction companies (including special situations/distress funds), internal group restructurings, structured finance transactions, fund setups and capital structuring at onshore and off-shore levels, and due diligence. Anjani has been a part of various advocacy efforts led by Banking Forums / Capital Markets Tax Committee/ ASIFMA / AIMA/ BSE Brokers Forum/ Financial Conglomerates, in India and Hong Kong with Ministry of Finance, Government of India and Central Board of Direct Taxes.
