Brian Smith

Brian Smith is a Partner in the Economic and Valuation Services practice of KPMG LLP and is the leader of KPMG’s Southeast valuation practice.  With more than eighteen years of extensive valuation experience, Brian delivers valuation services to clients in a broad range of industries.  These include estate and gift tax planning, dissenting shareholder and other litigation, contemplated mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy proceedings and general business planning.

Brian’s financial reporting valuation experience includes ASC 718, ASC 805, ASC 350, ASC 360, ASC 820, ASC 842, IFRS 3, IAS 38 and fresh start accounting. He also performs intangible asset valuations for financial reporting and tax purposes.  In KPMG’s audit practice, Brian serves in a SAS 73 role, having reviewed over a hundred valuations performed on behalf of KPMG audit clients.
