Background

Tarun is a Principal with KPMG’s Cyber Security group. With 19 years of experience, he specializes in designing and deploying innovative solutions to protect enterprise systems. Tarun helps clients in a vast array of industries – from Fortune 500 and Healthcare to Financial Services – maintain and enhance both their internal and external defense layers.

Professional and industry experience

Tarun is an experienced managed services leader with deep expertise in security architecture, infrastructure security, identity and access management, cyber operations, incident response, and related regulatory compliance. In his new role, he leads our cyber managed security services offerings across security operations, cyber defense, strategy and governance and transformation offerings. He joins KPMG from Deloitte, where he served as the head of Managed Security Services (MSS) in the Vigilant practice. Prior to Deloitte, Tarun was a Cyber Security product and business strategist for Symantec. He served as the global product management leader for Cyber Security Services, leading change and innovation for complex security analytics, MSS, log management, incident response, cyber intelligence and advance threat protection. Earlier, Tarun was senior director of Business Development and Operations, at ePlus Technology, a system integrator that provided IT outsourcing products and services. 

Tarun holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University.

Recent client experience

• Led complete transformation and rebuild of Security Operations Center for one of the 7 largest financial services organization in the world. Developed disciplined processes in the SOC such as Cyber Hunting, User and Entity Behavioral Analytics (UEBA) Monitoring, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Security Orchestration and Automation (SOA).
• Architected and led development of Advance Analytics modules to detect unknown cyber activities at Industrial Manufacturing organization with SCADA and ICS Controls detection integration (IT-OT Converged)
• Integrated SecOps and ITOps in a unique design to lower Adversary Dwell Time through implementation of Cyber Orchestration and Automation at the 6^th largest healthcare company.
• Designed and integrated actionable Threat Intelligence and Breach Responses processes and various organizations from Life Sciences to State and Local Governments
