  • Ning is a Partner in KPMG’s Financial Service Consulting practice with more than 15 years of experience in the Financial Services industry.
  • His primary coverage includes global financial institutions, focusing on sales and trading, wealth management and private equity businesses.
  • His recent Capital Markets advisory projects include wholesale conduct reviews, risk culture assessments, regulatory compliance reviews focusing on sales and trading front-to-back processes, pricing transparency practices, and market thematic studies on behalf of regional regulator and industry groups.
  • He has also worked with a number of APAC clients on end-to-end trade transaction reporting solutions, from regulatory identification and obligation inventories through to system, process and control enhancements aimed at ensuring a sustainable reporting operating model. 
  • He has extensive regional cross border experience covering APAC hubs. In his former role at an American investment bank, he was a co-head of a risk assurance team covering 13 APAC sales and trading desks.
  • He is a frequent presenter on industry topics including Best Execution, Front Office Supervision and the evolution of Wholesale Conduct frameworks.

Professional and Industry Experience

  • Ning has led a number of regulatory compliance and internal control due diligence reviews centered on trading and investing businesses including front office supervision, delegate and facilitation trading desk models, principal and agency electronic trading desks, SFC type 7 compliance reviews, retail market making desks including Warrants, Listed Options and FX desks, broader enhanced trading controls and risk management practices.
  • Specialist experience in regulatory investigations focusing on wholesale conduct risk, Best Execution, affiliate trade booking and remote supervision models, trader mandates and desk setup target operating models, trading risk management practices, retail market making practices, structured product originations programs (SEC Rule 144a and Regulation S), and strategic design and implementation of onshore Chinese securities joint ventures.
  • Asia Pacific regional coordination roles for global client accounts overseeing 14 Asia Pacific locations and centers of excellence (CoE) across Asia and Europe.      
  • Prior role as co-head of Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) Capital Markets Internal Audit team for an American investment bank. Advised Bank management on emerging business and operational risks in the capacity as an Equities Trading internal control subject matter expert. Asia lead on global thought leadership committees and frequent presenter on Enhanced Trading Controls, trader mandates and supervision & risk management target operating models. Pioneered Data Analytics development in Bangalore CoE for structured products originations and trading desk reviews.
