Helping clients meet their business challenges begins with an in-depth understanding of the industries in which they work. That’s why KPMG LLP established its industry-driven structure. In fact, KPMG LLP was the first of the Big Four firms to organize itself along the same industry lines as clients.

Managing Director, Tax

I am a Managing Director in KPMG's Compensation and Benefits practice.

Prior to joining KPMG, I enjoyed eleven years at the IRS as an Employee Plans Revenue Agent. As an Employee Plans Revenue Agent, I had the opportunity to perform compliance audits on the largest and most complex pension and welfare benefit funds as well as ordinary 401(k) plans. As a result of my efforts, many plan sponsors provided additional benefits to plan participants and some plan sponsors were required to pay additional excise taxes due to compliance problems. While at the IRS, I participated in a number of cutting edge audit initiatives including the well known Voluntary Compliance Resolution (VCR) Program and the Closing Agreement Program (audit CAP).

My tenure at KPMG has been as an important part of the Compensation and Benefits Tax Practice. I help clients resolve compliance issues involving IRS and DOL audits, help implement best practices intended to avoid running afoul of statutory requirements, and help design tax efficient benefit and reward programs.

For the past 9 years I have worked at Alvarez & Marsal, a global professional services firm specializing in turnaround and interim management, performance improvement, tax, and business advisory services. As a result, I have assisted in the restructuring of a number of very large companies. During these projects, I have managed teams of actuaries, attorneys, other benefits professionals, and company personnel in order to attain a successful restructuring of the related benefits programs.

I recently returned to KPMG as a Managing Director in the Compensation and Benefits tax practice and am looking forward to even more interesting challenges.
