Hernan Stigliano
Partner, State and Local Tax
Hernan Stigliano is a Partner in the New York Alternative Investment practice, specializing in state and local tax. His main areas of focus are income and franchise taxation, tax return reviews, state audit support, corporate restructuring, state tax compliance, state tax provision analysis, and sale and use taxation. Hernan has experience in several areas including alternative investment, real estate, asset management, private equity, leasing, and banking.
Hernan is responsible for a broad range of U.S. multinational and foreign-owned clients doing business as single entities, partnerships, limited liability companies, or other complex structures. He has extensive experience with a wide range of complex tax matters relating to his clients' businesses such as state and local tax due diligence, fund tax structuring, state voluntary disclosure agreements, and state and local nexus reviews.
Hernan has a JD degree from Seton Hall University and a BS degree in Accounting from Rutgers University. He is a regular speaker at tax conferences and Tax Executive Institute events discussing state and local tax matters such as legislative developments and trends. Most recently, Hernan spoke at the Wall Street Tax Association addressing state tax issues for pass-through entities. In addition, he has taught several internal KPMG state and local tax courses.
