Principal-in-Charge - Estates, Gifts, and Trusts

Tracy Thomas Stone is the Principal-in-Charge of KPMG LLP’s Washington National Tax – Estates, Gifts, and Trusts Practice.  Ms. Stone has over 23 years of experience advising clients on planning and compliance matters involving estate and gift tax, generation-skipping transfer tax, fiduciary income tax, international transfer and trust tax, and family business succession.  She assists clients with estate planning and prepares technical analyses, private letter ruling requests, and tax opinions.  Ms. Stone is responsible for supporting the firm’s Private Markets Group, working with owners of privately held businesses and family offices on their estate and trust planning matters.

Before joining KPMG, Ms. Stone was an associate at a Washington, DC based law firm, where she focused on transfer tax planning, estate and trust administration, and retirement planning as a member of the Tax and Estates Department.  She also previously worked as an estate planning and tax associate at a New York City based law firm.  Finally, Ms. Stone served as an adjunct instructor at Georgetown University, where she taught Wills and Trusts to college graduates enrolled in Georgetown’s ABA-approved Legal Assistant Program.

Ms. Stone is a regular instructor of KPMG continuing professional education courses and has authored articles in internal publications on a number of topics in the estates, gifts, and trusts area.  She also speaks at external tax professional conferences and meetings of closely held business organizations.
