Dennis Van Ham
Advisory Managing Director, Cyber Security Services
Dennis serves as a Managing Director in our Cyber Security practice in Dallas. He focuses on Security Operations improvement projects leveraging the ServiceNow platform. In 2017 Dennis joined the U.S. firm from our practice in The Netherlands, where he acted as COO of the Risk Consulting practice and co-lead the Cyber team. In The Netherlands Dennis also lead the firm’s Cyber innovation program i.e. coordinated working with various Cyber startups, served as a mentor in a startup incubator program and participated in various hackathons. Previously, between 2012 and 2015, Dennis was on secondment to KPMG’s Houston office where he launched the firm’s Cyber Maturity Assessment (CMA) service offering nationally. During his tenure in Houston Dennis worked closely with various Boards and Audit Committees as they increasingly started to treat Cyber as a business risk. During that time he also represented KPMG during the development of NIST’s Cyber Security Framework (CSF).
Currently Dennis leads various ServiceNow SecOps automation projects including integrations with technology providers such as Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, Crowdstrike, Recorded Future, Bitsight, Splunk and QRadar. Before joining KPMG in 2005, he worked for an E-commerce startup and as a product manager for a MSSP. Dennis started his career in 1999 as a KPMG intern whilst graduating from Tilburg University in The Netherlands (MSc. Information Management and Technology). After an internship in Silicon Valley with a smartcard manufacturer, his thesis focused on Digital Trust and the role of cryptography. As Dennis gradually started to focus on Cyber innovation management, in 2016 he participated in Harvard Business School’s “Disruptive Strategy” class based on Clayton Christensen’s pioneering book “The Innovator’s Dilemma”.
