Scott joined KPMG LLP in 2002 after having spent 11 years with the National Tax Department and New England Area offices of another Big 4 accounting firm. He has extensive practical experience advising clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, high-tech, utilities, telecommunications, retail, and natural resources. He has also spoken frequently on tax accounting methods issues at external industry, ABA, and TEI meetings.

Professional and industry experience 
Scott brings significant experience in direct client consultation on tax accounting methods issues to his role at KPMG LLP. His primary responsibilities include the implementation and review of federal income tax matters in the areas of inventories; depreciation and amortization; capitalization; income and expense recognition; and the domestic production activities deduction. Specific areas of experience include:

  • Consultation on substantive and implementation issues concerning tax accounting methods
  • Monitoring and provision of input into Treasury and IRS guidance processes
  • Assessment of tax accounting methods for purposes of opportunity identification and risk mitigation
  • Preparation, review, and filing of Form 3115 (request for change in method of accounting)
  • Representation before IRS National Office, Examination, and Appeals on tax accounting method issues
