Christian was born and grew up in Germany where he studied law and later practiced as an attorney. He joined KPMG in December 2005 and has more than 18 years of experience in international tax and transfer pricing compliance, and consulting work.
Christian has extensive experience in a variety of transfer pricing and other international tax matters. He has advised multinational clients in different countries on projects relating to the implementation of OECD transfer pricing requirements, and he has led Pan-African transfer pricing planning and documentation projects. Christian also has broad experience with transfer pricing policy implementation and operational transfer pricing projects, and he has supported clients in respect of tax dispute resolution as well as transfer pricing controversy matters, including for example Tax Audit defence and technical support to the legal team.
Christian’s client portfolio includes multinational clients in different industry sectors, including in the Renewable Energy, Retail, Oil & Gas, Financial Services, Automotive, IT, Shipping and Communications industry sectors.
Further, Christian has worked in South Africa, Germany and the United Arab Emirates, and he continues to support the local transfer pricing teams at KPMG Namibia and KPMG Botswana. He has performed international tax and transfer pricing related work, in collaboration with KPMG’s Transfer Pricing Teams in other African countries. Christian is also the Knowledge Manager of KPMG’s Global Transfer Pricing Services Team in Africa.
He has published transfer pricing and international tax related articles in local as well as international publications and he is the co-author of South Africa’s first transfer pricing guide.
Christian lectures, as a guest lecturer, on transfer pricing to the MCom International Tax programme students at the University of Cape Town.
He is the chairperson of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants Transfer Pricing Sub-Committee, and a member of the South African Institute of Taxation and the Hamburg Bar Association in Germany.
