U.S. Sector Leader - Asset Management / Building, Construction & Real Estate

Greg is the KPMG U.S. Sector Leader for Asset Management. He is responsible for the strategic direction over the firm’s Alternative Investment and Public Investment Management practices along with the Building, Construction & Real Estate practice. In this role, Greg is responsible for quality growth, client service and satisfaction, people development and marketplace positioning and branding. He has extensive experience leading cross-functional teams to address our client’s emerging needs. Greg worked closely with firm leadership to position our asset management and building, construction, and real estate practice as a strategic growth initiative. This sector is one of KPMG’s top investment and growth areas. 

Greg is a member of KPMG’s Global Real Estate Executive Committee and formerly served as Chairman of the Tax Section. Greg also currently serves as Lead Director on the KPMG LLP Board of Directors. Greg has more than 36 years of experience in the private equity real estate and hospitality industries. 

Greg specializes in numerous sectors within the asset management industry that include: institutional clients, the hospitality industry, funds management, real estate investment trusts, fund-of-fund clients, developers and investors. Greg has extensive experience in planning and structuring real estate acquisitions/ dispositions, minimizing UBIT, REIT structuring and compliance, debt restructurings and modifications, deferred like-kind exchanges, structuring partnership agreements, and partnership roll-ups. The result of Greg’s extensive experience is a clear understanding of fund and investor reporting as well as the unique tax structuring needs of both multinational and domestic private equity real estate funds.  

He has been a frequent speaker and moderator at industry conferences including Urban Land Institute, Pension Real Estate Association, The Real Estate Roundtable, National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), and NCREIF. He has also published numerous thought leadership pieces and conducted interviews with national and global publications. Greg is an active member of The Real Estate Roundtable, National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), The Real Estate Council (TREC), and The Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE).
