Managing Director, Tax – Development & Exempt Organizations
Lisa Woods works with project sponsors, investors, governments, anchor institutions, corporations, foundations, and community leaders to develop and implement Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Corporate Responsibility, and Impact Investing strategies; identify investable opportunities aligned with those strategies; assess, mitigate, and manage associated risks; and measure and report social, economic, and environmental returns on investment.
Lisa is particularly interested in advancing the role of state and local governments, economic development organizations, higher education institutions, foundations, and other not-for-profits in the developing QOZ ecosystem.
Prior to her current role, Lisa was seconded to KPMG International as the Global Sector Executive for Government where she developed strategy and operationalized a collaborative model for a $2.2B global business. Before her secondment, Lisa provided advisory and compliance services to not-for-profit and public sector clients (higher education institutions, healthcare organizations, charitable foundations, and nongovernmental organizations, government contractors) as national lead for International Tax Exempt Services (ITES).
In addition to domestic and international tax and regulatory compliance, Lisa has worked with clients to develop overarching expansion strategies, governance structures, risk review processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies to allow institutions to successfully deliver on their corporate and philanthropic missions.
Lisa is an active member of KPMG’s Tax ESG Strategy Group, Global Impact Investing Institute, Cities Center of Excellence, and Infrastructure Sustainability Network. She earned her law degree from University of Virginia and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association.
