Antonio Zuazua is an International Tax Services partner and leads the Indirect Tax practice for the KPMG member firm in Mexico. With more than 17 years of experience in domestic and international tax, Antonio is directly involved with numerous engagements for multinational companies from a wide range of industries, including e-commerce, construction, energy, real estate, manufacture, retail, services, and non-profit.
Antonio specializes in domestic, cross-border, and indirect taxation. He is responsible for a broad range of Mexico and multinational tax compliance and consulting for public, private, and non-profit clients. He also advises family offices and individuals and has implemented effective tax structuring. As leader of the indirect tax practice, he has assisted clients achieving efficiencies through tax consulting and has been involved in evaluating and complying with the digital economy indirect tax formalities. He has successfully assisted corporations obtain authorization for non-profit and corporate restructurings and negotiate rulings with Mexico's tax authorities, including due diligence studies for clients' merger and acquisition activity across a wide range of industries.
Antonio has also worked for KPMG in the United States. In the New York office's International Tax practice, he played an important leadership role, coordinating teams of professionals from other KPMG member firms around the world on international restructuring engagements involving a wide range of complex tax matters. In the Houston office, he participated in U.S. federal and state tax projects and in evaluating and structuring inbound and outbound tax investment projects.
Antonio is a member of the Mexican Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has provided coaching to small entrepreneurs with social responsibility projects through the Mentor Actus program. He has been as speaker at several events organized by the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants, IMEF, several chambers of commerce, and The Conference Board. He is an invited lecturer at the University of Monterrey.
Antonio has a BA degree from the Universidad de Monterrey in Mexico.
